FoHPED Put the Fun into Fun Run!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along on Saturday morning to run, cheer on, snaffle Pom Bears or just generally show off their Fun Run 2018 t-shirt!

What a fab morning, and even the rain stayed away! Learnings from our first ever fun run: kids can run faster, and more effortlessly, than grown ups! It's been suggested that future fun runs will be 3 laps for kids, and 1 lap for knackered, unfit grown ups instead of the other way around!

As always, this was a massive team effort, with so many thank yous due: to Suze and Tammie (aka the Raffle girls), to all the marshalls, to Lindsay, Head of Pom Bears, to Mayoni who so kindly paid for the raffle ticket printing, to Claire who designed and supplied our brand new and totally excellent FoHPED banner and flags, to Clarissa who covered the costs of free water and bananas to keep energy and hydration levels where they should be AND supplied all the medal-making kit for the kids, to Catalina who procured and engraved the Trophy to end all Trophies, to Colette who ran the warm ups and cool downs, to Nikki who organised the tee shirt design competition, and to Cassia who submitted the winning entry, and to the many volunteers who made light work of setting up, and clearing up at the end. Phew!

Additional thanks to all the lovely local businesses who supplied raffle prizes, and to Park Run who allowed us to follow their course and use their signage. We are particularly grateful to two key financial sponsors - Everyone Active Dulwich and a year one family, who contributed £300 and £500 respectively towards our costs. We're thrilled that, with this help, our net funds raised at this point stands at just over £2,000 - so close to our Green Screen target of £2,500! We're expecting lots of kids sponsorship packs in before the end of terms, so are super-hopeful we'll reach our target - watch this space!

Our last, but very definitely not least, shout outs go to everyone who turned up in their t shirts to run, walk, or just cheer on. Also to Chris, Arthur's dad, whose Usain-Bolt-like steely determination saw him take the coveted Fastest Grown Up trophy, and to year 2 mum Phillippa, who not only led on the whole event, but also negotiated an amazing haul of raffle prizes, ran the training bootcamps, and generally was a one-woman Fun Run tour de force! Thank you so much Phillippa - this event just wouldn't have happened without you!

And now, for your viewing pleasure, a selection of pics from the day - enjoy!

Now watch the movie! Thanks to reception mum Suze for her video editing skillz!
