FoHPED pub quiz a resounding success!

For those who didn't make it to last Friday's inaugural FoHPED pub quiz, you missed a night to remember! Judged by all who attended to be a resounding success, here is just a tiny glimpse of the highlights:

  • Our amazing compere Carl who put together the perfect mix of questions and delivered them with aplomb. Plus it takes nerve to dance along to the "90's club hits" music round in front of almost 70 people - kudos, Carl!

  • The outstanding sound system and gorgeous mood lighting which transformed our new school hall into an atmospheric party pad, courtesy of the kindness, talent and blagging capabilities of year 2 dads Angus and Matt

  • A fantastic, up-for-it teachers team, "The Lord Harris" who came 5th out of 11 teams - I mean, not bad, but could try harder, right?

  • An excellent choice of wine at the bar, perfectly selected by Year 1 mum Sarah, and much complimented, even by experts - we're such a discerning bunch!

  • The fact that everyone now knows exactly where their halluxes are - phew!

  • The specially-inscribed FoHPED trophy, much contested and fought over, which deservedly went to Reception parents team, "The Palmerston" who pipped challenger team "The Gowlett" to it by a mere TWO POINTS

  • The impromptu disco at the end - it would have been rude not to!

Now, here's the serious bit: Across ticket sales, bar take and sponsorship (from Pedder - please support those who support us), we took almost £1,800 on the night. Final costs are still TBC at the time of writing, but our profit will probably end up at just shy of £1400 - almost half the target funding for the balancing-and-climbing frame for the playground! This profit margin is ONLY possible thanks to the time, effort, hard work and ingenuity of the organising parents, many of whom funded elements out of their own pockets in order to ensure that the night was as good as it possibly could be.

But the real success of the night depended on you, the parent community, buying tickets and turning up, with your brains full of general knowledge, and your pockets full of cash for the bar: So the biggest THANK YOU goes to everyone who attended and participated so enthusiastically. Roll on Pub Quiz 2017!

Here's a gallery of photos from the evening, taken by year 2 / reception dad (and professional photographer) Angus. Don't panic, I have been kind and taken the dancing ones out!
